v0.1.3 — July 16, 2026

Security, fairness, and document-handling release.

• Security hardening across the platform. Strengthened tenant isolation and authorization checks throughout the service — including question generation, defense sessions, audio streaming, grade passback, and administrative routes — and the platform now fails closed at startup if session-security configuration is missing or weak.
• Fairer grading. Notes about a student's delivery (pauses, disfluencies) are now withheld from the grading step — verdicts assess understanding of the work, not speaking style.
• Stronger evidence integrity. Defense recordings and audit archives are now stored with write-once (WORM) object locking, and administrative changes are captured in an append-only audit trail.
• Better document handling. Word and PowerPoint submissions with embedded content are now converted to PDF for faithful rendering, with improved accessibility for converted documents in the artifact viewer.
• Reliability fixes. Abandoned defense sessions now expire automatically, and a timed-out exam launch can no longer reconnect unexpectedly. Faculty can no longer enable a defense before questions exist, and the microphone tone test got a clearer speaker indicator.

Operational hardening release.

• Release integrity. Published releases are now checksum-verified end to end, and changes must pass up-to-date status checks before they can ship.
• Infrastructure reliability. Storage access now falls back to cloud-managed credentials, removing a class of static-credential failure.

v0.1.0 — July 15, 2026

First production release of the Provenance platform.

• LMS integration. Launch Provenance directly from a Canvas assignment via LTI 1.3, with grade passback to the LMS gradebook and support for multiple institutions and Canvas instances with full tenant isolation.
• Artifact-grounded questioning. Student submissions (PDF, Word, code, and zip archives) are ingested and used to generate defense questions anchored to specific passages — with faculty review, editing, regeneration, and approval before any student sees them, and click-to-navigate references during review.
• Live oral defenses. Students defend their work in a real-time voice session with an AI examiner: microphone check before starting, student-controlled turn taking, resilient launch handling, and faculty-set defense length with graded follow-up throttling.
• Reviewable evidence. Every defense produces a sealed evidence package — recording, transcript, and verdict — backed by an append-only audit log.
• Administration. Institution onboarding, platform management, and usage dashboards in a dedicated admin console.
